Variety International, the Children’s Charity, announced that Derek O’Neill will be awarded their prestigious Humanitarian Award at the Variety World Conference on May 6th, 2012. The previous recipients of the award bares testament to the fact that it is recognized as one of the highest accolades that can be bestowed: Sir Winston Churchill, Dr Henry Kissinger, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, Sammy Davis Jr, Jerry Lewis, Sir Roger Moore and Simon Cowell are notable among the names of past recipients.
With over 80 years of care for the treatment and care of children with special needs around the world, Variety has raised nearly $2 billion to-date, making it the largest and most effective children’s charity in the world, with 43 chapters across 13 countries.
Since 1938, Variety’s Annual Humanitarian Award has been awarded to a person who has shown extraordinary dedication in the humanitarian realm.
